Leave Definitions:
1. Sabbatical leave is defined as an absence for one or two semesters for rest, reinvigoration of teaching, and for professional research projects.
2. Research leave is intended for faculty members who have been selected as University Research Professors.
3. Professional development leave allows study leading to an academic degree (“Study Leave”), stronger qualifications, or “on-the-job” training likely to enhance the faculty member’s professional competence.
4. Leaves of absence allow consulting, research, or other activity. The University assumes no financial obligation for a leave of absence. Please consult Human Resources about benefit status for unpaid leave.

Leave is typically for either one (1) semester at full salary or for two (2) semesters at half salary.
